Arlene Sanders Tate passed away at age 80 on July 7, 2020, in Johnson City, Tenn. after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Fred Tate, II; father, Henry Edge Sanders; mother, Christine Spivey Sanders; sisters, Sue Blalock, Gail Langley, Edith Sanders, Barbra Butts; and brother, Donald Sanders. She is survived by her children, Teresa (Larry) Albrecht and Fred Tate; sister, Nell Chapman; grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren), Olivia, BreEllen, Emma, Luke, Tabitha and Vanessa; great-grandchildren Adeline and Weston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tate was born in Habersham County, Ga, and moved to Atlanta where she met her husband Fred. In 1967 Fred and Arlene moved to Portland Ore. She worked for The Boeing Company for many years, and enjoyed being a mother and homemaker to her two children.
Known as Gami, she was a passionate grandmother to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, and took pride in her home and her beautiful flower gardens. As a loyal and beloved friend, she was known for her generosity and deep care.
A baptized believer, she attended a bible study with her dear friend Charlene and others in her home in Oregon.
In the past two years she moved to Tennessee to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. She will be buried next to her husband in Willamette National Cemetery.
