I worked with Dr. Fix at Mt. Tabor Family Medical. I was his nurse. He believed in me and my talents. He felt I could of been a doctor. I will never forget the time he gave me a suture kit and I practiced at home on chicken. He joked that I was the only nurse that walk as fast as him.  I went to his house with my young boys and he showed us the bus and the pond.  Dr. Fix and his wife Pat gave me a Christmas ornament that I still have and is one of my favorite. Because of Dr. Fix, I joined the Navy. I always think of Dr. Fix as a mentor and a so kind. What a life and what an impact he had on so many. Love to his family.- Misty Young

It was with great sadness that I read your dad's obituary. He touched many patients lives as a caring physician, and I really enjoyed working with him as a colleague at the end of his career.My son and daughter still think very fondly of him for taking us all on a 4 day camping trip rafting down the Deschutes River.He patiently taught my now 33 yr. old son to fly fish when he was 12.

Art Fix served 3 generations of the Baughman family in Gresham.  He was an old fashioned country doctor in demeanor and a modern physician in knowledge and experience.  He often drew pictures to make certain his patients understood their diagnosis fully and he made sure not to use terms that we could not understand without talking down to us at any time.  He never rushed his patients.  He was always fascinated by and up to date on the latest medical advancements. As friends, he and Pat became the best family friends you could ask for, and the closest friends my parents ever had.  To me they were like an uncle and aunt. We were all blessed to know them and they will always be remembered very fondly with much love.

Art was the best example of a husband, father, and friend. He approached everything with such kindness and effort. I still remember the sound of his voice as he would hug and thank Patsy for a wonderful dinner everytime she cooked. I remeber his excitement in getting up at 4am and driving really fast to go fly fishing in the Deschutes River. Mountain trips were a blast too. He worked hard in his backyard, always having a project. As a physician he was the best! His calm and encouraging voice could make anyone forget they were in pain. Grazie alla vita che ha dato tanto -Thanks to the life that has given so much!

Art's dedication to telling the truth at all costs and his strength of character were such a great influence on me. I thank God for that privilege.

Oh what fun we had with Art and Pat.  Art gave me the opportunity to work in his office which gave me my start in the medical field.  Art was a generous man taking in an 18 year old bride whose husband was in Washington.  We had so many good times with him. Art also played a very important role in my (Charles) life by caring and talking with me when my Mom died.  He was there!
Art will forever be in our hearts.  Our deepest sympathy to you kids.

I am so sad to read this. He was my family doctor for MANY years. He was the best doctor I have ever had. RIP Dr. Fix
