Barbara Jean Turvey
April 20, 1935 – May 8, 2018
Barbara Jean Rudling was born in Shipdham, England to Charles and Mary Rudling. She was raised in England with her seven brothers and four sisters. While living in England, she worked for eight years at a local post office. She came to the United States on the Queen Mary in 1959, and started working at the White Stag in Portland. Barbara exchanged wedding vows with George Turvey on December 31, 1960 in Portland. The couple enjoyed many happy years of marriage together. Barbara had many hobbies, but especially enjoyed knitting and shopping. She had a very special love of her 10 grandchildren, and spent as much time with each as possible. Like many grandmothers, she had recipes that her family enjoyed; fish and chips, pies and jellies were among the favorites. Barbara was devoted to her faith, and was a member of the Central Church of the Nazarene. She loved music, and found particular joy in listening to traditional church hymns. Barbara passed away on May 8, 2018 in Portland, Oregon. She will be interred with her beloved husband George in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.
