Ben had a love for the outdoors, especially the Oregon coast. He loved people unconditionally, had a heart of gold and empathy for those struggling. During his 22 years at the Oregon State penitentiary, Ben worked with hospice, worked as a mentor, assisted in teaching, and graduated with an associates degree. Ben was a gifted writer, he had many of his works published in different books, a few including; "Men Still in Exile" and "Answers Without Words".
