Bertie Lee Eddington (Daniel) was born November 9th 1951 in Luddock, Texas to her mother, Zenobia Inez Daniel, and her father, Bonnie Walton. She attended school in Lubbock at Ella R. Iles Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High School, and Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, class of '71. She graduated from Commercial Business College. Her employment included working at Texas Tech Personnel Office, Levi Strauss & Co., and Texas Instruments.
At age 28, she decided to pull up roots and move across country to Portland, Oregon with her eight year old son and four year old daughter. Bertie worked for 31 years with the State of Oregon and Multnomah County. Seven and a half of those years were spent with Adult and Family Services as an office assistant, and twenty-three and a half of those years with Multnomah County Community Justice Department as Office Assistant II and Records Tech.
In 2009, she retired and was then able to do all the things she loved, such as cooking, sketching, water coloring, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, gardening, reading, long walks, watching scary movies, and of course, football (Go Cowboys).
Bertie leaves to cherish her memory, her son: Henry O. Eddington Jr. (Djhan Christos-Darby) of Tacoma, Washington, her daughter: Shauna M. Eddington-Robinson (Brian Robinson) of Portland, Oregon; her companion, best friend, and love of her life for 43 years, Ricky Bolden, who was always there for her and her children; three grandsons: Rodney Kleckley, age 25, of Atlanta, Georgia, Isaiah M. Eddington, age 23, or Portland, Oregon, Caleb Rimmer, age 18, of Ogden, Utah, lots of nieces and nephews, all the way to great-great-great, and many other relatives and friends.
Bertie was preceded in death by her mother, Zenobia Daniel, father, Bonnie Walton, sisters Olivia Thomas, Geneva Tatum, and Bertha Turner.
