Bessie Mae Sims

Bessie Mae Sims was born August 4, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama, the second oldest of 10 children to the late Robert Bonner, Sr and Laura Mae Tipton Bonner of Birmingham, Alabama.

Bessie graduated Valedictorian from Ullman High School in Birmingham, Alabama and later attended classes and received Her Certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Bessie met and married the late Harold Kay Sims and to this union three children were born, Gregory Bernard, Harold Kay Jr. and Yolanda Denise Sims.

Bessie received Christ as personal Savior at the age of 13.

Bessie was an excellent wife, mother and grandmother. She was very inspirational to everyone she encountered,and always had a smile on her beautiful face and a kind word for everyone.

She Loved God with all of her heart and shared her testimony with anyone who would listen.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Sims; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bonner Sr.; three brothers: Nathaniel, William and Robert Bonner Jr; one sister, Laura B. Griffin.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter Yolanda Denise Bryant & her husband John Lafayette Bryant of Hillsboro, Oregon. two sons Harold Kay Sims Jr & His wife Tami Darlene Sims of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, & Gregory Bernard Sims & his wife Jooanna Sims of Lawton, Oklahoma

one brother, Delong (Pamela) Bonner of Selma, Alabama; four sisters:Vera (Thomas) Suber of Charlotte, North Carolina; Geraldine (Robert) Rhodes of Franklin, Kentucky; Alfreda Bonner and Retha Kay Smith of Selma, Alabama.
