Bethann Carolyn Griswold (née Pett), known affectionately as Beth, passed away on August 27, 2026, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 65. Born on July 24, 1961, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Beth was adopted as a baby by David and Evelyne Pett. Her father's role as a pastor meant that her family moved frequently, spending a significant portion of her childhood in Homer, Alaska.
She met her future husband, Jason, at a church conference in Auburn, Washington, around 1990. They married on July 8, 1991, in the scenic Ballard Locks rose garden in Seattle. The couple moved extensively due to Jason's career in the Navy, living in various locations across the United States before settling in Molalla, Oregon.
Beth was a dedicated mother and nanny, having attended nanny school and worked for prominent families in Portland. Her passion for motherhood shone through in her deep love for her three children. Beth's hobbies included arts and crafts, puzzles, coloring on her computer, and making jewelry. She also developed a keen interest in knitting and delved into her family history, connecting with her biological relatives in Wisconsin through a DNA website, which she found profoundly meaningful. Beth faced health challenges beginning in 2005 but continued to live a full and vibrant life.
A diehard Seahawks fan, Beth was known for her progressive views and love of true crime. Though she was a homebody who preferred indoor activities, her life was rich with the love of her family and the pursuit of her interests.
Beth is survived by her husband Jason, her children Justus, Sarah, and Chrystina, her grandchildren Penelope, Otto, Khloe, and Kaylee, and her brother Nathan Pett. She also leaves behind a beloved dachshund, Gracie.
Beth's life was marked by her ability to communicate effectively and her extraordinary patience in stressful situations, traits that deeply impacted those around her. Her legacy of kindness, understanding, and familial devotion will be cherished by all who knew her.
