Betty was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Franklin High School, received her bachelor’s degree from Lewis and Clark College and went on to receive her master’s degree in education from the University of Portland.
She married Donald Case and raised two Daughters, Kathleen and Constance. Don and Betty moved their family from the Portland area to Boring, Oregon where they bought 10 acres so their daughters could have horses. Betty taught first grade at North Gresham Grade School for 23 years before retiring in 1992. She loved to travel the world and continued her travels well into her 80’s visiting China, Africa, Russia, France, Germany, Peru, and took several river cruises through Europe and the Netherlands.
Betty’s husband Don preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her two daughters Kathy Harris and Connie Schaffer, four grandchildren Jason, Chandra, Joshua and Karlena, and two great-grandchildren Jeremy and Ryan.
A memorial service was previously held.
