Billie Jean was born to Emma Grace and John M. Richmond in Doniphan, Missouri on June 23, 1929. As a young girl, her family moved to The Dalles where she grew up with her 3 older brothers: Delayne, Alden, and Ray. She spent many summers in the fields with her family picking whatever crop was ripe.
She married James L. Casey on February 23, 1952. Together they raised 4 children Jimmy, Aloha, Nancy, and Steve. The Army was a big part of their life, moving the family to Montana, Alaska, Colorado and Germany.
Billie loved making a home for her husband and her children. She enjoyed gardening and beautiful flowers. She loved shopping and was always looking for a good reason to get dolled up. Billie enjoyed bowling and playing bunco with her friends. She learned to create ceramics while living in Alaska, and also loved to cook, bake, and sew.
Billie and Jim loved to travel. They traveled to Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Rome, and Vienna. They also loved to go on road trips. Mom always made sure the car was packed with lots of goodies.
Billie loved to watch her kids play sports. She spent many hours on hard and sometimes wet bleachers rooting on her children, grand-children, and friends. She loved every minute of it.
Billie was blessed with a large loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Casey; son, Jim Casey; two brothers, Alden and Ray Richmond; brother-in-law, Richard Casey; and sister-in-law, Neoma Richmond.
Billie is survived by her brother, Delayne Richmond (Donna); sister-in-law, Delores Richmond; daughter-in-law, Lynn Casey; daughters, Aloha Palmer and Nancy O’Donnell (Daniel); and son, Stephen Casey (Tania). One of Billie’s greatest joys was her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
