A funeral for Portland resident Carol M. Parker will be at 12:00 noon, Monday, June 6, 2011, in Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 9:00 am-4:00 pm Saturday, June 4 in the Chapel. A committal service will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 6, in Willamette National Cemetery.
Carol died peacefully May 30, surrounded by family, after a long battle with diabetes. She was 73.
Carol M. Parker was born on January 23, 1938 in Norfolk, Nebraska, the daughter of Otto and Lucille (Stevens) Schulz. Carol moved with her family to Oregon at the age of three. She met and married the love of her life and her constant companion and caregiver, Duane A. Parker whom preceded her in death on September 20, 2010. The two were married in 1955 in Stevenson, Washington. Together they had three children, Teri Drucker of Gresham, Lora Mattsen of Milwaukie and Allen Parker of Portland; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Carol worked for the David Douglas School District for several years. She was a devoted wife and mother. Family was her most precious priority. When not spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo at the Gresham Elks Lodge where she made numerous friends. Her most precious joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
