She is survived by children, David Paul and Julie Lee, their spouses, Shannon Paul and Mike Lee, and her four grandsons, Jackson Lee, Spencer Lee, Jason Paul and Ryan Paul.
Carol was known for her joyful and infectious laugh, which carried rooms. She loved to pour a stiff drink for guests, play the dice game Left Center Right, and if she won, would give back the winnings to the pool so we could all play again. And again. She never wanted a party to end.
As a mom, she was a steady rock. Someone both David and Julie talked to daily. And if something went south for either of them, she was there with hugs and advice until things got better.
As a grandmother, she brought the fun. Creating “days out” for her grandsons at game palaces and restaurants. She loved to eat out, and no one in her family will ever forget her saying, as we would sit down at a restaurant, “now you can get whatever you want, this is on me!”
To her, family were friends and friends were family. Carol was fiercely loyal to many, and her childhood best friend, Karen Adair, she was blessed to do quarterly shopping trips with until she couldn’t.
She counted beloved family members, cousins Mary Rife and Bob Laughlin, as close friends to get into some mischief with. In the end, she had an angel here on earth, Garod, who helped her last couple years be joyous and peaceful.
Mom loved cats, Blue Diamond almonds, See’s Candy, a warm cinnamon roll, a daily scotch, her yard deer she practically made into pets, and of all things, she loved Christmas.
Carol had boxes and boxes of Christmas decor she would annually decorate every room with, fretting over menus, creating games and fun activities to keep the party going each year. Christmas for us will never be the same without her. But the party continues with Jere’ in heaven.
