Carol Jean Scott

August 5, 1943 – May 18, 2025

Carol Jean Scott, born August 5, 1943, in Tyler, Minnesota, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 81. She was the daughter of Allen and Mary York and was raised in Brandt, South Dakota, where she attended Brandt High School.

In 1964, Carol married William Scott. Though they later divorced in 1991, they shared many years and a family together. Carol worked various jobs throughout her life to support her family and spent the last 20 years of her career as a lead housekeeper at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital.

Carol was a proud member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for garage sales and could always be counted on for a good laugh and honest conversation. Known for her kindness and straight-talking nature, Carol was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She believed in second chances and always did her best for those around her.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Villarreal; her sons, Robert Scott and Todd Rue; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, sisters Gerry Gageby and Ellie York Nelson; brother Richard York, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons, William Scott and Fred Scott; brothers, Fred York and Allen York.

A celebration of life will be held in August, with details to be confirmed.

Carol will be remembered as loving, loyal, and full of heart — someone who made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
