Caroline Sanita Fatu

Our beloved Caroline Fatu left this world and went home to our Heavenly Father after a short, but difficult battle with cancer. A fighter until the end, she passed away on November 17, 2023 at the age of 59.

Caroline Fatu, who also went by Karolyn or Karol, was born in Honolulu Hawaii on March 2, 1964 to parents Pelelini Toilolo and Fatu-Legae’e Mauga. However, she was raised by her mother Pelelini and her stepfather Jay Torbett. Karol spent her youth in Hawaii enjoying the sunshine and beaches with her siblings and many cousins. Her teenage years were spent in San Jose, CA where her lifelong love for sports began. Karol played volleyball, soft ball, basketball, ran track, and even tried to play football but girls weren’t allowed back then.

After high school, Karol spent many years in the accounting field working for several casinos and doing bookkeeping. Later in life she became a bus driver for Greyhound, graduated from cosmetology school, and finally did the most important work of her life, being a caregiver for her mother.

Karol loved her family more than anything on this earth. She was always there for everyone’s important life events like birthdays, graduations, weddings, baby showers, sports, and everything in between. Karol did not have children of her own, so her nieces and nephews were her kids. She loved, cared for, and supported them all as a mother would. Her other kids were definitely her pets. Karol was a passionate animal lover, especially cats. She had several cats in her lifetime, but ended with one special dog, Brando.

Karol has left an everlasting memory in the hearts of so many. She will be immensely missed and is truly loved.
