He grew up in Prineville, attending Crook County High School. He was a state champion wrestler in 1975. He worked for the City of Prineville Railway, retiring in 2017, after a 30-year career. He also played softball for many years in Prineville.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Bowman of Prineville, Oregon; his son, Payton (Willow) Bowman of Salem, Oregon; his daughter, Tara (Gary) Schnetzky of Prineville, Oregon; his sister, Kathy Weaver of Prineville, Oregon; his niece, Sally Jones of Prineville, Oregon; four grandchildren, Quinton, Kelsy, Wade and Sophia; and four great-grandchildren, Joi, Lane, Warren and Ocean.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Bowman; his sisters, Karen Day, Sue Phillips and Joyce Schnelle; his brother, Jimmy Bowman; and his nephew, Richie Young.
