Charles "Chuck Hagens was born on April 19, 1935 in Nacogdoches TX where he spent his early childhood until he relocated to Houston TX with his mother Juanita. His years in Houston began his lifelong spirit of entrepreneurship as he observed his mother and stepfather acquire several businesses and properties.
He eventually moved to Los Angeles where he graduated from H.S. Afterwards, he joined the military and was stationed in Ft. Hood TX, serving in the same platoon with Elvis Presley. After leaving the military and college he accepted a job with Boeing, formerly known as Douglas Aircraft.
Although he always carried a deep love for TX , he acclimated to the NW, making Portland OR his home for the majority of his life. He operated several businesses, most notably, Port City Taxes.
Additionally, he was civic minded, serving a term on city council and hosting and funding a number of events geared towards the upliftment of the African American community in Portland. He had special relationships with those who knew him as "Dad" and he will be greatly missed.
