

Charlotte Marie Shea was born September 8, 1923. Her parents were Mike and Mary Boland and she had a younger brother, Mike. Charlotte was born in Portland and grew up in the Lents area. She attended St. Peters Catholic grade school and graduated from Franklin High School. Charlotte worked at Dwyer Lumber until 1952 when she married Leonard Shea. Charlotte and Leonard raised six children, all of whom grew up in Parkrose. The five youngest children attended St. Therese grade schools and all of them graduated from Parkrose High School. Charlotte was a homemaker and an excellent cook. When her youngest child began school, she began volunteering at Providence Hospital. She was president of the volunteer group and volunteered at the hospital from 1968 until 1983. Charlotte and Leonard bought a small house at Rockaway Beach in 1966, where the family vacationed each summer. Charlotte and Leonard stayed in touch with several friends from high school and often visited them on vacation trips. Charlotte played cards regularly with a group of friends and old neighbors. After Leonard’s passing in 2002, Charlotte lived for four years with her youngest son’s family in Clackamas. She then moved into Cherrywood Village where she lived for the past eight years. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother. She was the last of her generation on both sides of the family. Charlotte is survived by her six children: Mike, Pat, Greg, Tim, Mary and Tom; 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
