

Clinton A. Coon Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away on December 18, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on April 24, 1948, in Pensacola, Florida, Clinton was raised in the panhandle of Florida, where his love for adventure and the great outdoors blossomed.
Clinton, a proud veteran, dedicated 20 years to serving his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer First Class in the Seabees. He attended petty officer training and completed two tours of duty in Vietnam, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Throughout his military career, Clinton earned numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (twice), Vietnam Campaign Medal, and four Good Conduct Medals, Marksman/Sharpshooter awards, & expeditionary campaign medals.
A member of American Baptist Churches USA, Clinton was a supportive & essential part of the church ministries in which his wife served as pastor. He often expressed his love for the outdoors through his hobbies, which included enjoying off-road vehicles, camping, fishing, and boating. Clinton had a passion for tinkering and enjoyed spending time with his beloved pets—his dogs and cats were a source of endless joy for him.
Clinton lived in or visited 48 states, more than 12 countries, and the continent of Antarctica. He loved exploring the Northwest for ghost towns. He was a man who could fix anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and family alike.
Clinton is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Coon, whom he met in the wedding party of lifelong friends. Together, they built a life rich with love and cherished memories that spanned their marriage of 55 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa Toupin and her husband, Matt Toupin, four grandchildren, Levi, Josh, Oscar, and Lucy, and his sister, Terry Mulconry.
Clinton A. Coon Jr. will be remembered as a good husband, a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of love, courage, and unwavering friendship will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
Military Honors will be rendered in memory of Clinton on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 1pm at Willamette National Cemetery.
