I’ll always remember Mr. Sullivan as  the quiet, kind, TALL dad of my dear friend Shelby (named after one of his favorite cars!) He would take our rowdy group of friends to basketball and softball games and tolerated the noise and chaos with such grace. He was always there to offer tips on how we could improve our game. But mostly he was just that lovely presence that made you feel safe. Many years later, I was blessed to see he and the lovely Mrs. Sullivan, walking the Westmoreland neighborhood, always taking the time to stop and chat. Sending you all my family’s deepest condolences, and many big hugs. Heaven received another beautiful Irish angel. 

Dearest Shirley, I have so many GREAT memories!  But, I will share only 2!  I loved when he would call me and ask me to frame, yet another photo of a favorite:  car, racing,  driver,  event, etc.....your garage and basement were full.  But, he would always say, I will make room.  We did count 1 time, and I asked him why are we counting?  There will be more!  Another sentimental favorite.  When my kids played sports at Saint Agatha's, he would stop by just to cheer them on.  He made everyone feel so special, especially me!  I will so miss my "Buddy"!  Heaven is so lucky to have received this special man!  Until we meet again!  I so love you!

I am so very sorry to hear of Clyde's passing. What a kind, good man... and a race fan of my dad's (Art Pollard) in the early years, like none other. Dad would laugh and say that he couldn't race if Clyde wasn't there. It was fun to stay in touch with him, since my mom talked with him occasionally, then he and I got to know each other better too. Then, when World of Speed opened I got to see Clyde every year, then talked on the phone occasionally. My deepest condolences to all of the family. I hope your memories of him bring you comfort during this hard time. He will be missed by many people, including me! Take care...  

Clyde was a big auto racing fan and I enjoyed hearing his stories and using some of his vintage photos in my racing biographies.
