David Maurice Junkin

David Maurice Junkin, 81, of Portland, Oregon, passed away September 3, 2026. He was born September 22, 1944, in Portland to Maurice and Vernice Junkin and was raised in Milwaukie, Oregon, where he attended Milwaukie High School.

David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from March 1965 to March 1969, attaining the rank of Sergeant and serving as an Electrical Power Specialist. He completed two tours in Vietnam and was in theater during the Tet Offensive.

On July 19, 1969, David married Janice Marlene Pasma in Ripon, California, after the two had met on a blind date. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another.

Following his military service, David worked for Platt Electric before establishing his own wholesale lighting business in 1976. A hardworking and dedicated provider, he approached both his career and his family with commitment and generosity.

David was a man of deep faith and was active in Cedar Mill Bible Church. He had many interests throughout his life, including autocross and race car driving, R/C airplanes, woodworking, fishing, and recreational flying as a pilot. Above all, he loved his family and will be remembered as a faithful, generous, caring, and admirable man.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Janice M. Junkin; sons, David A. Junkin and Marcus J. Junkin; brother, Robert Junkin; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian T. Junkin.

David will be laid to rest with military honors at Willamette National Cemetery.
