David Walmer, son of Ralph Eugene Walmer and Sylvia Arleta Walmer, was born in Bellingham, Washington on November 30, 1954. He married the love of his life, Arlene Ayers, on December 6, 1974 in Everett, Washington and they lived in Portland, Oregon for their entire life together. David went to be with Jesus on April 4, 2015 when cancer ended his earthly life but not his eternal life.
David was preceded in death by his mother and father and by his only sister, Carol Simontacchi. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his son, Joe, and daughter-in-law, Bethanie; two granddaughters, Makaylah and Hannah; three brothers, Philip, Gary and Timothy; several nieces and nephews who adore him, and a host of loving friends.
David graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in Sedro Woolley, Washington in 1973. He also attended Conquerors Bible College in Portland. David loved to read; for entertainment his frequent choice was Louis L’Amour and for inspiration and Christian development, A. W. Tozer.
David was passionate about serving God and was part of the leadership at Cornerstone Church in Milwaukie, Oregon for many years. He worked at planting a Foursquare church in Milwaukie and left that to be part of the pastoral team at the new Eastside Foursquare in Portland where he worked for several years. For the past two years, he attended As Is Church in Portland. (And if you aren’t attending a church now, he would strongly recommend As Is to you.)
He has touched the lives of hundreds of people over the years, and he will be sorely missed.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Anthem Church, 1415 NE 223rd Avenue, Fairview, OR 97024.
