Debbie Lee Caporaso, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Debbie was a Pacific Northwest gal through and through, with her love of greenery, rainy days, coastal breeze, ferries, waterfalls, seafood, coffee, and any water-related activities. She relished in the awe of Mount Rainier and sought fun in the sand of Alki Beach.
Debbie loved her family and friends endlessly, and took many under her wing. She married John Caporaso in the mid 1970s and lived in the Bay Area, birthing two children, before moving up to the mountains near Lassen National Park in Northern California. There, Debbie’s legacy extended beyond her role as a devoted mother to more than just her children. She helped to take care of her community as apparent through her active role as a Girl Scout leader.
Debbie's professional journey was marked by dedication and achievement. Following her divorce and subsequent move back to the Seattle area, Debbie continued in higher education, earning an associates degree in accounting from Green River Community College. She then worked at Peninsula Truck Lines for over 25 years, rising to become one of the company’s pioneering female roles as their Human Resource Manager.
Beyond her career, Debbie’s life was enriched by a variety of hobbies. She found joy in cross stitch, puzzles, gardening, movies, sports (go Seahawks!), reading, listening to music, and playing the piano. Her love for waterskiing, road trips, and cooking, particularly her renowned dips and potato salad, brought delight to all who knew her. Debbie’s laughter and humor were a source of warmth and joy, and she will be remembered fondly for her loving and supportive presence.
She is survived by her daughter Heather and wife Ellen, brothers Doug and David, mother Martha, niece Kelly, nephew Jeff, and her wonderful friends Barbara, Jenny, and Cathy. She was preceded in death by her son Brett and father Robert.
Debbie’s spirit and contributions will be deeply deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
