Delores spent a lifetime blessing others with her spirit. She excelled at all of life's demands as a daughter, sister, spouse, and mother and worked tirelessly to hold together her family ties through thick and thin. She often experienced lack, and never gave up working hard to bring the best to those whom she loved. She was one of seven children born to Winfred Weaver, Sr. and Evelyn (Heskett) Weaver. She often spoke of her early Depression years; not having shoes to wear every day (only Sundays at church!), and wearing clothes that were hand sewn of burlap material. From these humble roots she started to work in her teens, and continued to work into her 60s, when she began to care for her husband Jack until his passing. Delores loved people and loved her job as a grocery clerk at Fred Meyer; indeed, she was one of the first three women in the Portland area that passed the test at that store to join the ranks of what was a male-only profession at that time. Delores loved animals, rescued many a cat and dog, and taught her children the importance of treating everyone and everything around them with love, care, and respect. She was a shining star to her family and friends; a one-of-a-kind dynamo who never gave up on you if she came to love you. Rest, our dearest heart and beautiful spirit, you will be forever remembered. We are so honored to have shared your life with you.
Delores is survived by her brother Ben and sisters Diana Kay and Marjorie; her children Sandra, Michael, Jack, and Evelyn. Delores is also survived by her grandchildren Shanna, Jack (Rosalee, Partner), and Heidi (Matthew, Partner), and her great-grandchildren Dax, James, and Robert.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland. Interment at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery will be private.
