I love you grandpa. If I could go back in time and see you one last time, see your smile, hold your hand, play a game of cards, hear your laugh and feel the warmth of your hugs I would. I miss you so much grandpa but I know you are in a better place now and watching over all of us. I still can't believe you are gone. It feels like you were here yesterday and we were playing cards and always let me win, I was rubbing your bald head calling you my precious as you bellowed out in laughter. It's a laugh, a smile, a hug and a heart I can never nor will I ever forget. You may no longer be with us physically but you are in all of our hearts in spirit. I didn't tell you how much I loved you every chance I got and I regret it everyday. I love you grandpa.

I  have not really been "in" the family for a few years but when I met you I was 18, you made me feel so welcome into your family and teased me all the time. It was great. I have always respected and loved you even after I was divorced from your son. You are my children's grandfather and a great person. You will be missed by so many. I'm so glad I came over a few weeks ago and got to have a nice visit with you.

I will miss you Dad (I have never called you Dennis). I came into your life when I married your son. You saw through me & encouraged the person I am. You connected with me, inspired me & enjoyed my conversation. You seemed to be able to see the real person in everyone. I am and always will be in awe of you. I learned so much just by being in your life. Thank you Dad!! I will forever miss that anchor, love & acceptance you gave. Not as much as I will miss our conversations at your kitchen table.

Dennis smith was a wonderful man. He raised 6 wonderful and beautiful Children. I have enjoyed all my time with him over the years. Dennis has the most wonderful smile that could light up a room. I am so lucky to have known him. I am especially thankful that my sister Enola took Cheryl Ann and I to visit him a couple of weeks ago. He talked and laughed and was in good spirits. That is how I will remember him.

When a young girl marries into a big family she can only hope to fit in. Well when I married into this big family I was welcomed with open arms and love. I was so shy but Dennis always made me feel as though I belonged and made me feel like a Smith from day one. He always had a way to make me smile. He even welcomed my big family as part of his family. He loved to tease me and I secretly enjoyed every minute of it. He will always have a very special place in my heart. Until we meet again.  I love you!!!

To all my Smith cousins and my sweet Aunt Lola, 
 I'm so very sorry for your loss. "Uncle Dice" as he was known by us was a precious and sweet man. He made me feel safe, special and loved. I will always remember my days in the summertime as a child and visiting your farm. He would show  me how to help in the pasture and the barn.Uncle Dice would laugh at me when I'd shriek about the smelly cow poop and getting my shoes dirty...alas....this city girl will cherish those memories forever! I know for certain that he has been warmly welcomed to heaven from many family and friends that have gone before him in particular his sister Marvel.

We had a great Dad, we always knew we were loved, even if we were in trouble.  The love Dad and Mom have was wonderful to grow up with, and I try to live my life with the same love I was raised with.  Thanks Dad, I know your not far away, Love You!
