to catch the breeze,
floating where I please.
I am free to shine with the sun,
to light up the day
in my own special way.
I am free without my body,
to live on in your memory.
DeShawn was the second born of five kids and the only boy. As a little boy he was super sweet and gave the best big hugs.
He and his sister’s childhood wasn’t easy by any means, yet he still managed to make it through his challenges and live life the best way he knew how. He was a little ruff around the edges but never gave up and always sought advice and tried to do better. I know he wanted to be and do so much more in life.
I am so thankful that during his 30 years he met people that gave him that extra love that he needed along the way. DeShawn has two kids, Isabella and Jullian whom he loved very much. He made sure I knew and understood how much he loved them and wanted them. He has 5 sisters, Mariah, Jamaica, Sy’Aira, Lakeisha, and Saija whom he was just getting to know. He has a large family that he never got to meet. We often talked about him crossing the country with me so he could get to know the “Pledger” family.
He had so much more life to live, to learn, to grow, to experience, and to become so much more. He will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
I am truly going to miss hearing you say “Aunty, what you doing?” “Can I come over”, “what you cooking?” or fussing about his sisters and people working his nerve or wanting to come eat good food as he would put it. I just talked to you the day before, my heart is broken for you.
My Sweet Bubba, Aunty Anjee loves you so very much and I will truly miss you.
