Diane Kaye Shelley passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 11, 1948, at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, she was the beloved daughter of William T. Godfrey and Merna M. Godfrey (née Glazier).
Diane graduated from Sunset High School and began building a life filled with love, family, and joy. She first married Allen A. Presser Sr., and together they welcomed three children: Deanna, Allen Jr., and Bill. Life later led her to a serendipitous second chapter, where she met David Eldin Shelley, at the bowling alley—Together they brought three more wonderful daughters into the world: Tiffany, Jennifer, and Heather.
More than a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Diane was the heart and soul of her family—the matriarch who created a home overflowing with warmth, support, and laughter. She was outgoing, sociable, and adventurous, always ready to embrace life’s experiences with enthusiasm.
A gifted cook, Diane attended the prestigious Cordon Bleu Culinary School where she was especially known for her delicious and famous Divinity candy. She loved arts and crafts—particularly latch hook rugs—and found joy in gardening, long walks, and celebrating her birthday with a hamburger at Red Robin. Her favorite drinks were Mountain Dew and Coke, and best enjoyed alongside a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup.
Diane’s passions were as vibrant as her personality. She adored butterflies, the color purple, and the thrill of playing Bingo. She cherished her visits to Seaside, Oregon, where she could walk along the beach, browse local shops, and savor a good meal. Her home was also shared with two beloved feline companions, Charlie and CJ, who brought her endless joy and comfort.
Diane is survived by her six children: Deanna, Allen Jr., Bill, Tiffany, Jennifer, and Heather; nine cherished granddaughters; six grandsons and two beloved great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness lives on through them.
She made the world a brighter place, and her memory will be forever cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be held, where friends and family will gather to honor her remarkable life and the impact she made on everyone around her.
