Donald C. Barton, aged 77 of Portland, OR, passed away on Dec. 8th 2021. Don was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on June 13th, 1944. He was the son of Doris and Ralph Barton. Don grew up a "military brat," as his father was in the air force and they often moved from station to station. Finally settling into the Pacific Northwest, Don and his ex-wife raised a family. He retired from a long career in sales with a wholesale jewelry supply company.
Don was a long time club member for the well-loved Sidewinders Motorcycle Racetrack. Seasonal Friday night races were extremely well-attended and Don did everything from managing lining up the racers, starting the races, and refereeing the rules. For many years, he and his family also devoted their time cleaning up the track the next day. Don was an active biker in his retirement years and was a member of a local Harley Owners Group. On his motorcycle, Don participated in honors American Flag rides with The Patriot Guard. He also frequently participated in the Shriners Hospital Holiday Toy Run for children. After his retirement, Don took the ultimate epic bike ride to Sturgis, South Dakota with his family. Don was so loved by his biker family and community. His gracious volunteer heart and goofy sense of humor will be well-missed.
Don was a devoted family man, survived by his sister Shana Corah, his daughter Val Locke, his son Tony Barton, and his grandchildren, Shelby and Cameron Ellett.
Private funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Oregon Humane Society in his name.
