Donald Francis DeShields

Donald Francis DeShields was born on Christmas day 1919 to Anna and Robert DeShields in Fresno, CA; he passed away Oct. 13, 2013 in Thousand Oaks, CA. He was 93. Don was as an example of strength, valor and gentleness. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a business manager for 33 years. Don and his wife Teresa Marie sadly, lost their youngest son Timothy in 1972; then after 63 years of marriage, Don lost his beloved wife in 2009. A man of God, a wonderful father and a good friend, Don will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind; his children: Josephine Avery (husband Chester), Donald DeShields (wife Patti), William DeShields, Anna Velasquez (husband Diego) and Teresa DeShields Whitton (husband John); 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many extended family and friends. A Rosary will be recited at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 13955 Peach Hill Rd. Moorpark, California at 10:00 a.m. Thurs. Oct. 17th with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services will be held at Gethsemani Catholic Cemetery, 11666 S.E. Stevens Rd. Happy Valley, Oregon at 11:00 a.m. Sat. Oct. 19th 2013
