

At age 81, on January 24, 2018 Donald “Pete” Butler, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Providence Hospital, Milwaukie, OR.
Donald Leo Butler, “Pete” was born on May 14, 1936 in Oregon City, Oregon to Leo and Rose Butler. He was the 2nd of 4 children. As a child he enjoyed spending time with his siblings, Marge, Bob and Jerry. Pete loved his family and enjoyed going to visit his grandparents each Sunday as a child. He attended Milwaukie High School in Milwaukie, Oregon and graduated in 1955.
He was employed by North Clackamas School District #12 for 40 years. He worked as a school bus driver, and continued driving school bus during the day and at night he began working as a custodian. This lead to employment as a head custodian at the schools. Pete had a work ethic that was unmatched in all that he did. His passion was caring for others and helping children. He showed others his caring heart through the many wooden toys he built, through sharing tomatoes and vegetables he grew and the variety of projects he created and built for Rob and Wendy as well as all of the neighborhood children.
Pete is survived by his wife Janyce Butler, his son and daughter-in-law Rob and Ange Butler, his daughter Wendy Butler, Honorary daughter and son-in-law, Beckie and Del Helzer, his grandchildren: Cassi Butler, Kaden Butler, Donnie and Courtney Helzer, Heather and Mondale Owens. Great-grandchildren: Omari Owens, Hailey Helzer, Zoey Helzer, Novalee Helzer, Alex Popick, Maggie Popick and Teddy Popick. Siblings: Marge Boyer, Bob Butler, Jerry Butler and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was proceeded in death by both his parents, Leo and Rose Butler.
