Donald Francis Robertson

Mr. Donald (Don) Francis Robertson was born March 15, 1952 in Oregon City to Eugene and Bernice (Malsom) Robertson and passed away with family at his side in Roseburg, OR on August 15, 2024 at the age of 72.

Don was a 1971 graduate of Elkton High School, where he played football and earned a scholarship to SW Oregon Community College. After high school, Don moved to La Pine, OR where he met the love of his life and soulmate, Connie Susan (Overvig) Robertson, whom he later married on February 13, 1973 in Reno, NV. Soon after, he joined the United States Navy where he primarily worked as an electrician on C-130 aircraft, serving honorably during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, the family lived in Reedsport, OR where he worked at Umpqua Marine Way on Naval and Coast Guard ships for several years. They later moved to Vancouver, WA where he worked in the shipyards and, at one point in time, on the space shuttle in Astoria, OR. Throughout those years, he also worked as a bartender, restaurant manager, logger, and many other titles before finally settling in Madras, OR. There, Don owned and managed an apartment complex and worked as an electrician for the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) on the Warm Springs Reservation, from where he retired in 2017 after 20+ years. Following his retirement, Don bought a house along the Umpqua River in Scottsburg, OR where he lived until his passing.

Don enjoyed all things outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed things like sports, especially football (Go Cowboys!), telling a joke (or a story) every chance he got and above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. Donald was a “Dad” to many and will be missed dearly by all.

He was preceded in death by his wife Connie in 2009, and by his parents, his step parents, and a son-in-law, Lonnie. He is survived by his daughters, Amy and Donyelle; his grandchildren, Ashley, DonLee, Dawn and Tony; his siblings, Bonnie, Teresa, Doreen, and Mark; his Uncle Bob and Aunt MaryJo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Robertson’s life will be celebrated at services on August 29, 2024. With a funeral service at 11:00 am at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR. Followed by a 12:30 pm honors ceremony at Willamette National Cemetery and a 1:00 pm reception back at Lincoln.
