Donald Victor Williams

May 8, 1936June 2, 2021

Don was known for the many trips he took in pursuing his interest and passion in the shooting sports especially with junior shooting athletes. He kept meticulous notes on each trip and maintained several book logs to record each trip. He was always ready to show his books and talk about each trip. Don spent his life pursuing his passion in shooting and was active internationally with the Masters Games for decades. Don was especially passionate about helping youth and paralympic shooters reach their goals. As a result of his participation with his shooting sports, he received many medals and also had an active role in Oregon National Guard shooting program. He retired from the National Guard with 24 years of service as a SFC E-7.

Don was born in Decatur, Illinois on May 8, 1936. He became an Oregonian when his Father and Mother, Victor Harry and Dorothy Mae, brought the family to Oregon in 1941 when Don was 5 years old. He always carried his requisite umbrella for the Oregon rain. He is predeceased in death by 3 brothers, Ronald, Jack, and Dennis. During those early years in Oregon Don and his brothers assisted the family in share cropping and other jobs his dad had. Early years he spent time in Turner, Oregon living with his Grandparents and going to school.

Don is survived by his wife Barbara (Porter) Williams; His three sons, Kevin, Brian, and Michael; His Granddaughters, Beth, Nichole, Victoria. Don had one Grandson Jason who predeceased him. He is also survived by Stepdaughter Cheryl Tuning, and Stepsons Robert and Edward Smith.

We would like to suggest that in lieu of flowers that people donate, in Don Williams’ name, to the Lones Wigger Endowment. The Wigger Endowment is dedicated to youth shooting. (
