Donna Marie Hall Scanlan Bright went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2026. Donna Hall was born in Agra, Kansas on April 30, 1935. She graduated from Kansas State University and moved to California as a young bride to Jack Scanlan, where she taught school, had three daughters: Vicki Lee, Terri Lynn and Kristi LeAnn, and began a lifetime full of friends and activities.
Having been widowed young, Donna was introduced to Charles William (“Bill”) Bright and soon had a larger family with two added children, Jerry Ellen and Mark Lee.
Loving wife to her husbands, first Jack and then Bill, Donna was involved in her church and her neighborhoods, and was a member of the Assistance League of the Antelope Valley and the Republican Women’s Club. Those who knew Donna have tasted her zucchini bread and peanut butter cookies and may have spent time at her table eating dinner or just drinking iced tea and chatting. She prided herself on being “the house with the happy children. “She spent the majority of her career as a Language Arts teacher at Juniper School and a substitute for the Palmdale School District. Her positive influence impacted the hundreds of children she taught, and her generous spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, family and friends.
Interment at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, California, and West Cedar Cemetery, Agra, Kansas.
A Celebration of Donna Bright’s Life will be held May 2, 2026 at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, California.
