

With deep sorrow and profound loss, we announce the passing of Dontae E. Mathis Jr., affectionately known as Donny, who left us far too soon on July 6, 2024. Born on July 17, 1998, in Portland, Oregon, Donny was a beloved son, brother, and friend, whose radiant spirit touched the lives of many.
Donny was a proud graduate of his Portland high school, where he began to embrace his passion for music and creativity. His ability to see the extraordinary in the mundane, and his talent for transforming the simplest of things into something remarkable, defined his unique artistic vision. He had an insatiable curiosity and a deep love for learning, which fueled his ambition and drive to excel in all his endeavors.
Donny was known for his bravery, always facing life's challenges head-on with unwavering confidence and adaptability. His generous nature meant that he would share whatever he had, even if it was his last. Those fortunate enough to have known him appreciated his laid-back demeanor and his ability to chat endlessly, sharing stories and theories that showcased his vibrant imagination.
He will be remembered for his authentic self—calm, loving, and deeply passionate about what he believed in. Donny was a source of strength for those around him, fiercely protective and resilient, yet with a charming and approachable personality that endeared him to everyone he met.
Donny is survived by his father, Dontae Mathis; his grandmother, Margaret Espinoza; his aunt, Dawnetta Farlow; his sisters, Courtney Clinton and Dominique Fuller; and his brothers, Jacobie Lacey and Dontae Kante-Mathis. Each of these cherished family members carries forward his memory with love and pride.
Donny's light may have dimmed too soon, but his legacy will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him. His spirit will live on in the creativity he inspired, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
