

Doris Marian Dickey was born in Bay City, Oregon, to George and Selma Jennings, on March 17, 1918. The family soon moved to Portland, where she lived most of the rest of her life. She had a younger brother, George and also a sister, Virginia. Doris passed away January 19, 2016.
Doris graduated from Clinton Kelly High School of Commerce in 1936, and went right to work. During WW II, Doris joined the Navy. The Navy sent her to New York,Oklahoma, Astoria and Chicago. After discharge, Doris returned to Portland and went to work in the billing office at Meyer and Frank. In1948, Doris was introduced to Raymond Dickey and they were married 3 months later, January 1949. A daughter, Susan, was born in November of that year. Loren was born in 1951 and Neal in 1960. Doris was a stay at home mom who baked, canned and gardened. She was a member of the Shovel and Hoe Garden Club, a County Extension member, cub scout leader, and room mother. She was an active member of the Cherry Park United Methodist Church.
As the children moved away, Doris enjoyed visiting them in Hong Kong, Japan, Montana, Colorado, and California. She and her sister, Virginia, took a Scandinavian cruise, and later she took a cruise to Alaska.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 1988, her parents, and both her brother and sister.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Susan and husband James Mankind of Porterville, California; son Loren and wife, Teresa, of Belgrade, Montana; and son, Neal and wife Carolyn, of Portland. She is also survived by six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Friday, January 22, 2016, 11am, at Cherry Park United Methodist Church. The church is located at 106 th and Market Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cherry Park United Methodist Church, or the donor's favorite charity.
