

Doris Mae Hoffman was born on July 5, 1924 in Courtland, Minnesota to Leo Reed and Elsie Ginkel. She joined Chester, her brother and only sibling. She went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the age of 100.
Doris was a very faithful and devote Christian She attended the Lutheran
Church her entire life and was confirmed at St Paul Evangelical Church in New Ulm, Minnesota on March 21, 1937.
Doris met a dashing, handsome trumpet player named Vernon Hoffman and married him in 1941. She was a young bride at barely 18 and for the first few years of their marriage she followed Vern where he and the band played. Doris loved to dance and she could polka very well.
Vern, Doris, Bruce, Sheila and Terry moved to California in 1950. They moved to Astoria, Oregon a few years later. Vern worked as a car mechanic and Doris began working as a bookkeeper at Newberrys.
In 1967, Doris, Vern and Terry moved to White Center, Washington and Doris began working for KMart. When she retired and Vern had passed away she moved to Portland (1990) to be closer to her sons Bruce, Terry and their families. She also spent time in Colorado with her daughter Sheila and family.
Gardening, canning, reading, dancing, and traveling were Doris’s favorite things to do in her spare time. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and preparing family holiday meals.
Doris is preceded in death by son Bruce in 2004 and daughter Sheila and son-in-law Larry Carson in 2002. She is survived by son Terry (Sonja); daughter-law Jocelyn, Six grandchildren; Todd Twyman, Kristi Owen (Barry), Nick Fuentes, Brad Hoffman (Leslie), Sarah Hendrickson (Brady) and Jacob Hoffman (Melanie). Eight great-grandchildren; Ian and
Scott Twyman; Riley, Quinci and Jason Owen; Lucas and Clara Hendrickson; and Alec Hoffman.
A memorial service for Doris will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
