Doris was born on February 1, 1954 in Fairbury Illinois to Herman and Alice (Bender) Teubel . She graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing in Bloomington, Illinois in 1982 and worked at Oregon Health Science University for the last 30 years in the ambulatory surgery department as a surgical nurse.
She is survived by 3 sisters: Ruth Teubel of Fairbury, Ill, Mary (Alfred) Slagel of Fairbury, Ill, and Joann (Jerry) McKenney of Kent, WA. She has 5 nieces and nephews: Laura (Jason) Hatmaker of Lancaster , KY, Karl Slagel of Fairbury, Ill, Julie (Michael) Matejcak of Frankfurt, Germany, Laura McKenney of Vancouver, WA, and Manuel McKenney of Kent, WA as well as 2 great nieces, and 3 great nephews.
Doris was a long-time member of Aloha Church of God and loved her church family. She passionately served in many capacities and was active in the women’s ministry, volunteering for the food bank, held positions on various committees, added her touch to the sanctuary with flowers and candles, and was a faithful prayer partner.
She loved flowers, gardening, humming birds and traveling. Doris participated in a mission trip to Russia and two mission trips to Haiti to serve as a volunteer surgical nurse on medical teams. But most of all she loved her friends and family and will always be remembered for her sweet and generous spirit.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, April 6 at 11:00 at Aloha Church of God, 18380 SW Kinnaman Rd, Aloha, Or. There will be a celebration luncheon following the service and all are invited to stay and celebrate her life with her family, co-workers, and friends.
On May 4, there will also be a memorial service at First Baptist Church, 701 N 7th Street, Fairbury, Ill for her Illinois family and friends at 11:00AM, also followed by a celebration luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking memorials be made to Aloha Church of God.
