Dorothy Marie Hamlin died on Sunday, May 5, 2019, in the presence of her family. She was born in Lamar, Colorado on January 5th, 1935, to James and Mamie Gill. Dorothy had two brothers, Glen and Lawrence Gill and one sister, Irene Parker.

Dorothy grew up in a small rural farming community located in Southeastern Colorado. She graduated from McClave High School and, subsequently, attended Colorado State University. While at CSU, she became a member of the Kappa Delta sorority.

After attending Colorado State, Dorothy moved to Denver and worked within a clerical position at Lowry Air Force Base. It was there, that she met Virgil L. Hamlin Jr. Virgil and Dorothy were married on August 31, 1958, and had three children and seven grandchildren. Now, Dorothy and Virg, are forever together, as Virgil passed on April 16, 2019.

Throughout their sixty-one years of marriage, they resided in the Parkrose neighborhood of Northeast Portland where they raised their family and made many important life-long friendships. Dorothy is survived by her son, Greg Hamlin (wife Julie) of Gresham, OR; daughter, Denise Stratton-White (husband Keith); son, Jeff Hamlin (wife Chrissy) of Happy Valley, OR; and her seven grandchildren.
