She married the late Perry Lambert on February 24, 1968. She loved children and dedicated her entire life to loving and caring for children. Before her retirement she worked for the Multnomah County School District No. 1 for many years. Following her employment with the school district, Dorothy served as a Foster Mother to many children for over 30 years. She was a caring and giving person. She would give you her last dollar if you needed it. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of others-especially children. She was an excellent cook and was most famous for her deviled eggs, sweet potato pies, and gumbo just to name a few. She was affectionately known to all of her Grandchildren as “Grandmother”.
She was a collector of many things, such as collectable dolls and fancy hats. She was stylish and knew how to dress, and she made sure her daughters and foster children were dressed well in the finest clothes. She was a very giving person and had a special place in her heart for people who were less fortunate than she was. Giving to others and cooking for others was her love language. If she had it and you needed it, it was yours! The Lord called her home on November 14, 2024.
Preceded in her death were sisters, Katherine Jennings and Minnie Dale Walker-Black; and brothers, Harrison Taylor and Lee Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters, Felicia Lambert and Cynthia Lambert; sister, Betty Jones; brother, Larry Robinson; and grandchildren, Durante Lambert, Ivory Lambert, and Shawnacy Lambert-Roberts.
