I had the honor of sitting in front of Dorothy Blunck in Mrs McDowell's 5th grade class at David Hill School in Hillsboro, OR. In fact, I sat between two Dorothys with Dorothy Gilman in front of me. That was my first year in the Hillsboro public school system, as prior to that I attended a one-room country school between Hillsboro and Cornelius that closed its doors. Fond memories!

Dorothy and I were friends through all grades. We became closer friends during our Senior year. We were always trying to figure out ways to be different. When her sister got a new VW Bug we were so interested and excited. Once when I was staying over at her parents house, we got up early and drove around town in our P.J.s.
I loved her parents. Learned a lot from her mother and adored her father's accent because it reminded me of my grandfather. Didn't like the limburger cheese that he ate at dinner because it smelled so awful.
What a great friend Dorothy was to me. Thank you, Dorothy for lasting memories.
God Bless you,

Marlene Fold Hicklin

Dorothy and I graduated from Hilhi in 1956 and were friends. My husband, Roger, worked for her father, Gus making mops and delivering them in the years before he graduated in 1957. He had many fond memories of Dorothy and her sister and of Gus..
