Dustin was born to loving parents Larry and Mary Jo Canfield on August 14th 1977 in Portland, Or . As a child Dustin spent many years traveling with his parents and Uncle Vern to different swap meets and car shows where he developed a very passionate love for classic cars. When he was away from home with his parents, if he got into the slightest trouble, his Aunt Jill was on speed dial to come and "rescue" him. At 13 he became a loyal employee for his father's business, Aftermarket Enterprise. He acquired his first car a 1964 Chevy Impala and at 16 began to enter into the drag racing scene. Dustin graduated from Centennial High School in 1995 then attended Mt. Hood Community College. He continued working full time at his father's shop. A few years later he acquired one of his most prized possessions, his 1968 Chevy C10 pickup later to become known as "the other woman". In 2000 he met and began a one of a kind relationship with a person who shared the same likes, dislikes, goals, passion, hobbies and love for the automotive industry. Dustin and Katie married on November 15th 2003. As her love for dogs rubbed off on him they acquired their first "son" Shadow, 6 months later Riley arrived. The boys would go to work every day with their Dad and became permanent fixtures at the shop. Their home they purchased in 2000 soon became a bustling place with the addition of their first Chihuahua Rae "mommy" in 2005. From Rae's only litter of puppies Dustin fell in love with little Bert and their family grew. As his family grew so did his love for the asphalt. Drag racing became their summertime fun- it was a special time to spend with family and best friends. After his first battle with cancer he found it to be an inspiration to start his own performance business, AFT Racing. Dustin was strong minded and knew he had a gift, with his knowledge of performance and a love to create the business took off. As word spread so did a new hobby, Banks. Dustin became well known at the dirt track as a fast, strong builder. Sadly he was preceded in death by their first "son" Shadow in 2011 but soon after the family found Delilah Mae who instantly won their hearts and filled the empty spot at the shop. Dustin is survived by his best friend and wife Katie, his loving Mother and Father, his sisters Tiffany and Denise. His many furry children and countless friends and relatives.A memorial gathering will be held from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 1515 NE 106th Avenue, Portland, OR 97220.
