

Earl H. Hall Cmdr. US Coast Guard (Ret.) June 9, 1918 –July 9, 2016. Earl was born in Pocatello to parents Ella and Rheamer Hall and was a member of the Idaho National Guard from 1937 -1941 when he was transferred to the US Army. In 1944 he completed OCS and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. During the war he served in the Pacific theater with a cold stay in the Aleutian Islands. It was on a train to Ft. Lewis where he met his sweetheart Margaret Isabel Gigot and after a brief engagement they married January 1, 1945 in Norwood Manitoba. Earl earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting in 1947 from South Eastern and immediately went to work for J. Edgar Hoover at the FBI for 11 years during which time he was assigned to Portland. Rather than accept a transfer to Chicago, Earl elected to join the BLM as a safety and investigation engineer for the NW Region until retirement. Earl was active in the reserves from 1946-1957and accepted a commission with the US Coast Guard in 1957 retiring with the rank of Commander. Earl was part of a rare club to be a graduate of both the National War College and the Naval War College. Earl was an Eagle Scout and lifelong member of the Boy Scouts of America and also served as Exalted Ruler of the Milwaukie Elks. Earl was predeceased by his wife in 2001 and son George in 2009. He is survived by his Daughter in law Lillia Hall, daughters Elizabeth Hall, Cecilia (Michael) Brennan, Catherine (Chris) Galati and sons Ronald (Sherry) Hall, Frank Hall, and Stephen (Lori) Hall as well as 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral Mass is scheduled for July 19, 2016 at 11:30 am St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. A private internment at Willamette National Cemetery will follow immediately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
