Betty was born to Ernest J. Daniel and Dorothy Vernon (Schrimsher) Daniel on December 18, 1942 in Warrensburg , Missouri.
Growing up as an Army Brat, she moved all around the country and spent 3 years in Spain. Her family moved to the St. Louis area, where she attended Ferguson High School, graduating in 1960. During Christmas Break of her Senior year, she was set up on a blind date with Ralph Camp. This date led to another, the very next day. The two continued to date, and then to correspond while Ralph was serving in the Navy.
Ralph returned from the Guam in the spring of 1965 and they were married on August 29 of the same year in Warrensburg, Missouri. Betty had said she would never marry someone who moved around a lot, a read head, or a preacher. With Ralph she got all three.
She trained as a medical Laboratory Technician working in that profession while Ralph earned his Bachelors at Multnomah School of the Bible in portland, Oregon. She also earned a night school certificate from that same institution.
While living in Portland, their two children, son Daniel (1968) and daughter Jennifer (1972) were born.
In 1972 Ralph and Betty were appointed as missionaries with Overseas Christian Servicemen's Centers (OCSC, now Cadence International) to serve as partners in ministry to members of the US military, working alongside military chaplains. While serving in the Philippines, Japan, Okinawa, Missouri, and California, Betty provided the military men, women, and often families with home-cooked meals and provided a home-away-from-home. There are many people with fond memories of traditional holiday dinners while living and serving in the topics. Additionally, for over a decade Betty ministered both as "HP Mom" with the organization Hannah's Prayer, and also as a case worker with the Navy/Marine Corps Relief Society.
Transitioning to Ambassador status with Cadence (semi-retirement), Ralph and Betty moved to Reno, Nevada to be near Jennifer and her family. When Jennifer suffered a stroke at age 39, Betty became her driver, spending the next several years shuttling Jennifer and her kids to appointments and school. While living there, they were active in the Community Bible Church where Betty led the Women's Bible Study and sang on the worship team for many years.
Relocating one last time to be near the great-grandkids, Betty and Ralph moved to Wilsonville Oregon, where they became active at Boones Ferry Community Church. Betty quickly found her place, acting as a mentor to younger women and making many friends in this new location as well. In February of 2025 she broke her kneecap. After several surgeries and months of therapy, she was able to travel to Tennessee early this January to attend her granddaughter's wedding, something that she had been looking forward to for months.
Always one to keep busy, Betty enjoyed crocheting, reading, crosswords, and other puzzles, baking, and cake decorating. Betty bakes and decorated the cakes for both of her children's weddings. While living overseas she enjoyed exploring the cultures and cuisines of the places she lived.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Dorothy Daniel. She is survived by her husband Ralph Camp, her brother John (Patty) Daniel, her children Daniel (Diana) Camp and Jennifer (Rick) Saake, her grandchildren David Camp, Drew (Elise) Camp, Joshua Saake, Ruth (Wiley) Cawood, and Jeremiah Saake, and her great-grandsons Owen and Adolin Camp.
