OBITUARY

Elizabeth Louise Colasurdo

March 23, 1963May 20, 2019

Elizabeth Louise Colasurdo, age 56, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Monday May 20, 2019. Elizabeth was born on March 23, 1963 in Portland, Oregon.

Our dear sister Elizabeth was the ninth and youngest child of Marie and Angelo John (A. J.) Colasurdo. A talented athlete and musician, Elizabeth was a star softball player and accomplished flutist in high school. She graduated from Beaverton High School in 1981, and attended University of Washington. After college, she worked at Nike as well as at the University of Portland. A creative and expert seamstress, she designed and sewed her own clothes and made many beautiful hand-sewn gifts for her family. Elizabeth also had a marvelous sense of humor, skillful knowledge of herbal medicines, and a love of books and movies. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains and Forest Park. She cared about the fate of the planet, gave up her car, and took public transit for many years. Her tremendous strength in the face of a fatal illness was truly phenomenal. She will be missed by her family and friends, who showered her with love during the last year of her life as she struggled with cancer. Her vibrant spirit, bright laughter and love will remain with us. She is predeceased by her sister Jeanine Colasurdo Ierulli and her father A. J., and survived by her mother Marie and her siblings Marita Ingalsbe, Terese (and Robert) Stassinos, John (and Janet) Colasurdo, Bernie (and Beth) Colasurdo, Michael (and Sue) Colasurdo, Celeste Colasurdo (and Jose Olavarrieta), and Christine Colasurdo (and Tom Scanlan) as well as her many nephews and nieces, grand-nephews, and grand-nieces.

To honor Elizabeth, donations can be made to Forest Park Conservancy (https://www.forestparkconservancy.org) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (https://www.nami.org/#).

Oh my dear Betty- I just heard the news about your passing. I had no idea that you were ill my friend:( I sure wish I would have known. I do think God was trying to tell me something, because just a few days ago. I was thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. I really wish, I could give you a big hug right now my friend. It’s hard to believe, that we have known each other since 1st grade. Where does the time & years go? I love you my precious friend and may God give comfort and peace to the entire Colasurdo family, during this difficult time.

Your friend always,
Brent Howard

Too many thoughts to share, except her laugh is ringing in my memory with her proclamation "I'm just sure!!!"
