Enid Lorene Parks was born January 26, 1922 in Bismarck, North Dakota, to John and Marjorie Slavick. She passed away on September 7, 2010 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 88.
Enid moved to Portland at the tender age of 2 years old. Raised in the city of roses, she graduated from Franklin High School. After high school Enid worked in the Albina Shipyards during World War II, which is where she met the love of her life and husband of 63 years, Donald Parks. Enid and Donald tied the knot June 26, 1943. Out of this union came two beautiful children, Gary Parks and Nancy (Parks) Drais. After working as a homemaker for some years, Enid was eager to enter back into the workforce in the early 1950’s, working at the 1st National Bank of Oregon. Nearly 20 years later, Enid decided to retire in the early 1970’s.
After retiring, Enid and Donald spent a lot of time at their beach house in Cannon Beach, and did a lot of traveling to places across the world including (but not limited to): England, Africa, Hawaii, and throughout Europe.
Enid’s family and friends cherish many memories of such a wonderful woman. It is said that she had a special love for cats and was a lefty in a right handed world.
She is survived by her son, Gary Parks; daughter, Nancy Drais; Son-in-law, Mike Peterson; daughter-in-law, Bette Lou Parks; and grandchildren, Eli, Kelsey and Logan Parks.
The family would like to suggest that contributions be made to the Animal Aid, Inc. of Portland. http://www.animalaidpdx.org/
