Ernest Green

Ernest Green was born January 25th, 1930 to Edward C. Green and Elnora Brown in Garyville, Louisiana. Ernest was the 3rd of 4 children.

As a young man in Louisiana, Ernest worked in a Sugar Refinery for a number of years. Ernest met and married the love of his life, Eula Mae Houston. In 1957, after 3 children he and his wife decided to follow his father and other siblings to Portland, Oregon.

After moving to Portland, Oregon, 3 more children were born into their family.

While living in Portland, Ernest found work in manufacturing. He worked at various Aluminum Foundries in Eastern Oregon and Washington for 40 years, commuting back and forth until he retired.

After fully retiring from manufacturing, Ernest continued to work part time as a security guard for Pinkerton Security.

In 1976 Ernest found the Lord and became a member of Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Rev. O.B. Williams. Ernest faithfully attended Church and served in many capacities. This is also where he became an ordained Deacon.

All that knew Ernest knew that the Lord, his wife, his family and his church meant so much to him. Church was his joy and he looked forward to attending Bible study and Sunday services every week.

Ernest stayed faithful and served wherever he was needed. Even after several leadership and church changes, Ernest served faithfully until his health prevented him from doing so.

On January 9th, 2022 the Lord saw fit to call Ernest Green home. Ernest received his wings to fly away peacefully at 3:45pm. Although we are sad, we find comfort in the knowledge that he is free of pain and suffering, and has reunited with is loves in Heaven.

Ernest was proceeded in death by: Parents Edward C. Green Sr. and Elnora Brown; Brothers Edward C. Green Jr and Raymond Green; Sister Laura Green; Wife Eula Mae Green; Sons Lawrence Green and Donald Green.

Left to mourn his home going are: Daughter Sandra Hillman; Sons Leslie Green (wife Angie), Michael Green (Leone), Thomas E. Green (wife Quintina); Grandchildren Gail Fair (Kenyatta), Monika Elizondo, Jerray Jenkins (wife Anna), Tenysha Haynes (husband Terrance), Shawndra Robinson, LaQuasha Thompson, LaSeda Thompson, LaMarr Thompson, Mikala Mae Green, Thomas E. Green Jr. (wife Ruby), Carl Green (wife Lisa), Tholanda Newborne, Deminika Green, Donald Green Jr., Gabrielle Green, 26 Great Grand Children, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A funeral service for Ernest will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM.
