The family moved to the Portland area when Esther was 12. She attended Gresham High School and then entered the food service industry as a waitress. Esther served guests at the Mallory Hotel, Fish Grotto and Bill’s Steak House. Esther was a league member at 20th Century Lanes for many years. She also enjoyed her weekly trips to Spirit Mountain and playing cards, especially pinochle, with friends and family. Esther was outspoken, never afraid to speak her mind, had a good sense of humor and loved joking around.
Esther will be remembered by her daughters, Linda Metz of Milwaukie and Pam Jackson of St. Helens; grandchildren, Dan Johanesen, Tammy Ruffing, Tracey Imper and David Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Bryan Ruffing ad Alex Johanesen.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
