Esther Jeanne York

Esther Jeanne York was born October 25, 1914, in Lausanne, Switzerland. She came to the United States in 1936, lived, worked and became a U. S. citizen in New York City. She was a European trained baby's nurse. In 1939 she met and married Ellis Duke York and they settled In Martinez, California prior to WWII. During the war, Mr. York became a Captain and served in the Merchant Marines, and Mrs. York returned to New York City where she lived until after the war. In 1946 Mrs. York, her husband and their young daughter moved to Portland, Oregon where Mrs. York resided until her death October 6, 2012. Captain York preceded her in death in 1955.

She is survived by two daughters, Paulette York, La Quinta, California and Susan York, Baker City, Oregon.
