

He was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 28, 1930 to Howard and Blanche Snow, the fourth of five children. After graduation from the University of Miami, Florida, he spent 36 years in manufacturing operations all over the world, including test programs for the space industry at Cape Canaveral. At the time of his retirement, he was Vice President of Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. He was also retired from the US Marine Corps.
Ned served as the president of the Snow Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization. During his retirement he volunteered for many years at Medical Teams International and received a Lifetime Achievement award from President Barack Obama for his many years of service in 2015. A long-time supporter of work with the developmentally disabled through Good Shepherd Communities, he was a former member of both their regional and national Board of Directors and had also served as member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Advisory Committee. He was a 50-year Mason and an Al Kader Shriner. Ned was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Tigard.
Ned married Janet Sue Snow in 1954. They were married for 34 years before her death in 1988. In 1989 he married Carolyn Thelin. She survives along with his sons Eric Snow (Buzzy) of Hillsboro and Rex Snow (Angela) of Newburg; daughter Kim Kennedy of Aloha; stepsons Scott Thelin and Kevin Thelin (Francisca); stepdaughter Marsi Thelin (John Lambie) of Portland; and their fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dick and Fred Snow, and sisters Barbara Hoffman Mooney and June Williamson.
In their retirement Ned and Carolyn enjoyed numerous world-wide travel experiences and annual winter trips to Hawaii. They delighted in their large blended family and the many warm and wonderful family occasions they were able to share during their 34 years of marriage. They moved to Mary’s Woods in Lake Oswego in 2010.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 9 at Mary’s Woods in the Provincial House Chapel with a reception to follow.
