

“E. Darlene Nielsen, age 85, passed away in Oregon on September 16th, 2024. Born June 4th, 1939, Darlene spent her early years in Roosevelt, Minnesota, and graduated from Williams High School. She shared her life with her beloved husband, Lester Nielsen, whom she married on June 14th, 1969.
Darlene's career was marked by her dedicated service at VA hospitals in Minneapolis and Portland, where she retired. Her roles varied from being an operation room technician to caring for veterans on the floors and managing supplies, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to those who served.
Her personality was as vibrant as her career was devoted. Known for her wonderful sense of humor and unique pronunciations Darlene was never seen without her signature lipstick and perfectly styled hair, regardless of her health. Her love for old country music and her roles as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother defined her as a deeply caring individual.
Darlene's family includes her daughter Lorelei Hall and son-in-law Terrance Hall, as well as her grandchildren Jacob and Dylan Hall, Brandi Norris, Kyra Hargrove, Conley Wyatt, and Briana Hilmes, alongside several great-grandchildren. Her life was also blessed with the companionship of her surviving siblings Doug Steinbring, Karen Steinbring, Barbara Fisher, and Karleen Marshall. She was preceded in death by Emil Johnson and Viola Paulson-Johnson and siblings Roselyn Johnson, Dean Steinbring, Wayne Steinbring, Jeannie Steinbring, and Danette Brandli.
Her hobbies including gardening, drawing, and spending precious moments with her grandchildren, were a testament to her love for life and nature. The Oregon Coast held a special place in her heart, where she enjoyed countless memorable moments.
The family plans to honor her memory with a Memorial Service in the Summer of 2025, ensuring her legacy is celebrated in the warmth of the season she loved so much.”
