Evelyn Marie Robinson, daughter of Otto & Mary (Allen) Lystrup, was born at home on January 4, 1922. She was joined by sister Arlene in 1924 & brother Howard in 1926. Evelyn Lystrup graduated from Washington High School in January, 1941. She met Ralph Robinson (Toms River, NJ) at Cannon Beach, OR when he was in the Navy during WWII. They married in her parents' home August 31, after the war, in 1946. They were stationed for a while in San Diego & when discharged, moved back to Ptld. Children, Lynn 1947, Carol 1949, Randy 1952, were born, and in 1956 moved to Bend OR until 1962. They moved again back to Portland and she lived in their home on 45th for 46 years. Ralph passed away in 1995, Randy in 1999 & Lynn in 2007.
Evelyn had varied interests in her 88 years. She belonged to garden clubs, women societies, bowled in 2 leagues 'til she was 86, played pinocle, bridge, solitaire. She traveled thru 46 states, loved walking on the beach barefooted. Evelyn was a beloved neighbor who shared her holly tree berry branches each December.
She spoke of having collections of collections: hearts, colored drinking glasses, coffee mugs and sweatshirts from all her trips, kerosene lamps, silverware, dishes, vases, boxes, metal & foil for Uncle Howard, birds, Victorian magazines, antique magazines, holiday decorations, seashells, flowers, plants, etc. Her favorite color was red.
Evelyn was a private person but would open up when questions were asked. She loved her family & neighbors & her home. Her 4 grandchildren were joys in her life. She led a full life and was ready to go home to God, deserving a rest after giving so much to her family. She got to do what she wanted, the way she wanted. But she will be tremedously missed.
