Our beautiful mom, Florence Frank, passed away on August 20, 2020. She
was a month and a half from her 101st birthday.
Florence grew up in Almont, North Dakota and traveled to the Pacific
Northwest with her parents in 1936. The family lived in Mt. Angel, Oregon
and Vancouver, Washington, before settling in Portland, Oregon.
She served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. Most of her
service was in the Midwest and in Arkansas. After the service she returned
to Portland. Florence met Bill Frank at a Catholic War Veterans dance and
they were married in 1947. Three daughters later, Florence began working
for the Sisters of the Good Shepherd at Villa St. Rose. She worked there
for 20 years.
In her retirement Florence loved to travel, and was a dedicated participant
in Elderhostel programs, the Senior Studies program at PCC, and other
various classes and activities. She was an active member of the Young
Ladies Institute and the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women.
Florence was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Parish for 68 years.
Florence is survived by her daughters: Judy (Stan) Kitzes, Ruth Frank,
Barbara (Michael) Keys; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
